Calceolariaceae
Calceolariaceae is a small family of flowering plants with 3+ genera. The name ‘Calceolaria’ comes from the Latin for shoe. Hence, these are often called ‘Slipper’ or. ‘Purse’ flowers. The genera include Calceolaria, Jovellana and Porodittia.
Whilst the main natural geographical area is South America, Jovellana has made a long distant dispersal to New Zealand.
